Bellringers

Drayton St Leonard Church Bell Ringers

Who are we?
There are currently 6 of us – 5 from the village and one from Marsh Baldon – and we are regularly joined on our practice nights by a couple of ringers from Little Milton and occasionally others from Marsh Baldon.

When do we meet?
We ring for services according to the monthly pattern. We usually practice twice a month (normally the first and third week) on a Wednesday, 7.30pm – 8.30pm

What is bellringing all about?
The first stage is to learn to handle the bell. Once that has been mastered, you then move on to learning to ring in time with others, for rounds and then different methods. Once you can safely handle a bell, you can also visit other churches for their practice night and widen your experience.

Who can join?
Anyone who can ride a bike or drive a car can learn to ring. It does not take strength and you don’t need to be musical. We are happy to teach anyone over the age of 10 who can commit to ringing most weeks for practices and Sunday service.

Contact Hilarie or Christopher Rogers on draytonstleonard@southoxon.odg.org.uk if you wish to come and see what it is about, or just want to know if it is for you!
