Invitation to the DSL email group

There is an active email list in the village, for village residents, ex-residents and people who are interested in the village. A few village businesses are members but they keep any advertisements few in number.

Topics on the list vary from upcoming village events such as the recent Burns Night supper in the village hall (fully subscribed, great fun), announcements, general information, missing/misdelivered packages, lost/straying cats/dogs, items for sale or wanted, Advice (which Taxis run to the Airports, when does the Bus run, who can I phone for … and so on), Christmas e-cards, Pothole advice, charity runs, and so on. There are not too many messages a week, occasionally a week with none, then a flurry of emails on an interesting subject. Average 2 – 3 a week.

The list was founded by Angus Heron, a former village resident and IT expert, and is now independently run by volunteers, it’s not run by the Parish Council or any other organisation, though thanks to the Parish Council for allowing this invitation to be posted on their site.

TO JOIN either

  1. email dsl-email+subscribe@googlegroups.com from the email address you want joined. Use the format Tommy<tommy.atkins@emailprovider.co.uk>  as the application email sender if you can and you might be subscribed as Tommy, but all too often Google will misallocate you as tommy.atkins . Google will reply, usually immediately, with confirmation of membership or with details of how to confirm your application.
    OR
  2. email Anne Wright or Marc Sibley, who manage/own the group. Remember to let them know what name you would like displayed. To reach them put these coded letters together (scrambled to avoid bots)       annelw at hotmail dot co dot uk              marc dot sibley at btinternet dot com

TO UNSUBSCRIBE or leave the group

  1. click on the unsubscribe link near the end of any email received from the group email.

To see the messages on the web go to https://groups.google.com/g/dsl-email/  , log in with your Google account and choose dsl-email. It will show messages sent since you joined. Or re-joined. (The web list will only show you messages that came in since the last time you joined).

Any queries or help needed, contact Anne or Marc.
Or me, but I’m leaving the village soon,

Stephen Cox
